Drug Residues Too High At Two Dairies |

Antibiotic drug residues were too high in bob veal calves sold for slaughter recently by dairy farms in Wisconsin and Illinois.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered the animal drug misuse during inspections of Veeser Farms at Casco, WI and Hunter Haven Farms Inc. at Pearl City, IL.

Health officials are warning people not to drink unpasteurized milk from Tucker Adkins Dairy of York, South Carolina, because as many as eight cases of Campylobacter infection in neighboring North Carolina have been linked to the farm's raw milk.

Test and Hold' Harder for Small Companies |

Meat and poulty producers will soon be required to keep products being tested for pathogens off the market until all samples have been cleared. This practice
could prove extremely challenging for small processors who sell fresh meat the same day they receive it, according to industry representatives.
The USDA's Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) announced in April that it would withhold its mark of inspection from a lot of product until samples from that batch had tested negative for adulterants.
